Bob was also the adopted son of Oliver and Theresa Tarr. Bob grew up and worked much of his life in Melrose, MA and proudly served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952.
Bob was blessed with seven children: Diane Landers (husband Paul), Daniel Tarr (wife Deborah), Christopher Tarr, Robert Tarr (wife Birget), the late Kerry Tarr, Susanne Pollier, and Thomas Tarr (wife Jocelyn). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Dan Howard, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Costantino and Penny Cave, mother-in-law, Phila Brill, and several other extended family members and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his second wife, Nancy Tarr and his first wife, Madeleine Tarr.
Bob AKA “Farmer Bob” or “Uncle Bob” to most, was a kind, outgoing, thoughtful man who had a deep love for his family, friends, and New England sports. He lived for “HIS Red Sox” and would not miss a game. Bob was an avid fisherman and shared so many memories fishing with friends and family. He loved telling anyone that would listen, all about his fishing excursions. He fished ‘til the end!
Bob devoted his time and energy giving back to those in need. He enjoyed volunteering for the Senior Companion Program through Community Action Program, NH for 8 years. His clients described him as “trustworthy”, “dependable”, and “one of the best guys I have ever known”.
Bob will be greatly missed by many, but without a doubt, left a lifelong impact on everyone who was lucky enough to have met him.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. A memorial service will be from 10:30-11:30am in the funeral home. Guests are encouraged to wear New England sports attire to the service in honor of Bob’s love of New England sports!
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the NH Veterans Home. Bob lived at the Veterans Home in his final years and would be “tickled” to know he was still able to give back even after he was gone.
