James Michael Lord 54, of Boston, MA, transitioned early on the morning of August 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
James, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born to Dolores " Ma DeeDee" Lord and James " Jo" Owens on February, 17, 1969 in Boston, MA. He attended Boston Public Schools and was a very proud graduate of Charlestown High School, Class of 1998. In 1996 he met his high school sweetheart Amina " Tina" while working at a summer camp. Four years later, they welcomed their daughter Ayanna into their lives. On July 27, 1996 they joined in marriage. In 1999 Jimmy and Amina rejoiced as they welcomed their son, James II into the family. Jimmy was delighted to become a grandfather to his new grandson, August, in June 2023.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother Ma DeeDee, his father Jo and his grandmother Blanche " Nan " Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Amina, his children Ayanna and James, his grandson, August, siblings Michael ( Cynthia) Lord, Francella " Cissy " Lord, Anthony " Tony " Stokes, Joyce Lord, Kim Lord, Renay Peters and Godmother Velma Morris. Jimmy is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand- nephews and friends turned family. Jimmy also leaves behind his beloved cat companion, Izzy.
In the early 1990's Jimmy became a licensed Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ). After working at Brewster Ambulance Company for a few years. Jimmy began his illustrious career at Boston Emergency Medical Services ( EMS ) in 1997. He started his Boston EMS career as a telecommunicator, then worked in Ambulance 2, 13, and 17 before returning to work in Dispatch Operations as a telecommunicator. He was named Telecommunicator of the year- Twice! He was also a great Field Training Officer ( FTO ) teaching new EMT's all his tricks of the trade. Most days, Jimmy loved his job and was proud to serve the citizens of Boston. A Friend to so many on the job, his sense of humor brought light and laughter wherever he went.
Jimmy was many things to many people. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a coworker, a jokester, a Trash taker, a storyteller, a music lover and a friend to countless people. He used to tell his children to be careful when they were out and about because if they were acting up there was a chance that somebody he knew would see them and let him know. This was not an idle threat but the absolute truth!
Our dearest Jimmy, had a long fight and he fought a great fight. Job well done. He earned his time to rest. He is truly gone too soon according to us. But God had another plan and while we may not like it, we will accept it and hold on to knowing that he is at Perfect Peace- no more struggles, no more sickness, No More Pain!!. We are comforted to know that he is now with his Mom, Dad, Grandmother and a host of others who have gone before him. We believe he will watch over us as we stumble through our new normal without him. We know we will hear him and feel him as he watches over us. Rest easy. We got it from here. Until we meet again. We will ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
