West Boylston: Doris E. (Wahlstrom) Brick, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She leaves 2 sons- Ronald Brick of Worcester and Kenneth Brick and his wife Linda of Worcester; a daughter Gail Kackiela of Auburn; a granddaughter Melinda Mahan of Worcester; a grandson Michael and his wife Patricia of Orlando, FL; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth S. Brick, a daughter-in-law Susan Brick, a son-in-law Charles Kackiela, and by her brothers Paul, Phillip, Gunnar "Cooney", Gilbert "Snibs", and Runo "Ruxy" Wahlstrom, and by sisters Helen Rogers-Taft, Dagmar Hendrickson, and Helga Hoffert.
Doris was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Victor and Matilda (Mattson) Wahlstrom. She attended high school and worked as a binder at the M. J. Whitall Ruggs Company and in the factory at Phalco Plastics. She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards- especially Hearts, knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, and listening to country western music.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the entire staff at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center for their compassionate care of Doris over the last 10 years.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Doris's memory may be made to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind.
