Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - M. June (Gosselin) Gilbert Sadowski, 92, of the East Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, August 13, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on June 20, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Dona J. and Mary I. (Pelkey) Gosselin. A lifelong resident of Springfield, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a 1952 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Springfield for many years, later retiring from the Springfield Municipal Hospital. She had worked at various nursing homes during her career. She was a longtime Scout Commissioner with her late first husband, Clarence and was involved with Cub Scout Pack 302 and the Round Table. She was a longtime member and volunteer of the following organizations: the Package Machinery Retirees Club and Bowling League, the Pine Point Senior Center and Golden Agers Club and the Red Cross. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Springfield where she served as a Special Minister of the Eucharist and a member of the Spiritual Life Commission and Youth Ministry of the Church. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her three loving sons, John A. Gilbert and his longtime companion, Robin Gentile, and Roger J. Gilbert, all of Springfield and William C. Gilbert of Sturbridge; her cherished granddaughter, Julianne A. Magdaleno and her husband, Christian, of Auburn; her dear brother, Ernest L. LeClaire of Chicopee; her two dear sisters, Holly A. Spedding and Rose Marie Majgier and her husband, Stephen; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Clarence R. Gilbert; her beloved second husband, Zigmund A. Sadowski; her beloved longtime companion, Richard Holland; her dear brother, Dona "Mike" Nelson Gosselin; and her dear sister, Sandra Dorman. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Road, Springfield, MA 01109. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to her Mass.
