Ronald Leroy Ruby

Ronald Leroy "Ron" Ruby, 80, of Alexandria, went home to be with the Lord, August 12, 2023 at Northview Health and Living after a brief illness.
He was born May 29, 1943 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Dwayne and Phyllis (Herring) Ruby.
He served in the United States Marine Corps.
He was a school teacher at Highland High School for 17 1/2 years teaching biology and coaching wrestling. He was then president and co-owner of Ram Graphics in Alexandria. He finished his career as a sales executive for Kleinhenn Company in Anderson. He was head wrestling coach and football coach at Highland High School. He was president of Anderson Madison County Mental Health Association and Madison County Visitor and Convention Bureau; vice president of the Greater Anderson Business Club. He was a driver for Sports World Pro Ministries at Alexandria Church of God. He was president of the Board of Trustees, chairman of the Church Council and Annual Church Business meeting; chairman of the Leadership Team, lay leader, and greeter at East Side Church of God. After retiring, he drove cars for three dealerships and volunteered at local food pantries. He was an avid weight lifter, softball player and gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Paulette (Mitchell) Ruby of Alexandria, whom he married July 10, 1964 in Fargo, North Dakota; daughter, Heather (Ruby) Powell of Anderson; son, Spencer Ruby of Anderson; sisters, Debbie (Allen) Johnson and Dennette (Jerry) Bacan all of San Ford, Florida; two grandchildren, Natalie Powell and Hunter Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Rick Ruby and Linda Sills.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Dr. Kerry Robinson of East Side Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
