Theresa A. Catizone, of Woburn formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully August 12, 2023, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center of Burlington. She was 96. Theresa was the beloved wife of the late John F. Catizone. Born in Boston she was one of ten children of the late Omer A. and Mary (Ordway) Willette.
Theresa was raised and educated in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. She eventually settled in Somerville where she raised her family before relocating to Woburn. As a young mother, she volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother and also taught CCD for a number of years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and was an avid bowler for many years. More recently in her leisure time she enjoyed working on jig-saw puzzles, word searches, crossword puzzles, and loved playing cards with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Theresa had a strong Catholic faith and a special devotion to the Blessed Mother that brought her great comfort. She kept a prayer list with a countless number of people on it that she prayed for regularly on a daily basis. She will be greatly missed.
Theresa is survived by her children, Joanne Morrissey and her husband Robert of Woburn, Mark Catizone and Eileen of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was the loving grandmother of Bobby Morrissey, Kevin Morrissey and his wife Ashley, Kyle Catizone and his wife Georgina, Nicole Catizone, Mathew Catizone and the late Gregory Catizone. She was the loving great grandmother of Owen and Mariana Catizone. Theresa is sadly predeceased by her seven sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, August 17th, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Theresa's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
