Dr. William P. Accomando passed away peacefully at his Ipswich home on Wednesday, August 9th. He was 82. Raised in Medford, he was the son of the late William H. and Josephine (Landi) Accomando.
A graduate of Suffolk University and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Bill served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War in Virginia Beach. After his military service, Dr. Accomando began his dental practice in Medford and served his patients with great care for over 50 years. An avid golfer, Bill enjoyed playing as much as he could. He was a longtime member of the Salem Country Club and served in several leadership positions over the years. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them on trips to Florida, Bermuda, and Hawaii or just being together at home watching a game on TV. Bill had a special love for the White Mountains which began when he was a boy at Maplewood Caddy Camp. Throughout his life he vacationed in the mountains and enjoyed relaxing with those he loved.
The beloved husband of Christine (Grenda) Accomando, William was the devoted father of Michelle Hughes and her husband Tim of Darien, Connecticut, and Michael Accomando and his wife Karen of Pelham, NH. He leaves his loving grandchildren: Evan, Quinn, Carter, Jackson and Charlotte. He was a dear brother to Carol Lyons and her late husband Joe, Terese Pandolfo and her husband Richard, Joyce Kaptcianos and her husband John and Elena O’Halloran and her late husband Walter. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, August 15 from 4 – 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, and again on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM with a procession to a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
