Obituary

Daniel Edward Reilly passed away on August 9, 2023. He was 90 years old. A resident of Pinellas Park, FL, and previously Winter Haven, FL, Dan was born on May 24, 1933, in Taunton, MA to parents Terrence and Mary (O’Brien). He was one of seven siblings, brothers Robert and Brian. Sisters Ann (Williams), Marie (Grzywacz), Joan (Dermody), and Carol (Dussault).
Dan was a 1951 graduate of Taunton High School where he was a standout athlete on the track and football teams. He briefly attended Boston College before being drafted into the Army in 1953, serving two years in Korea and Japan. He met his wife Ann (Keough) as coworkers at the former New Jersey Rubber Company in Taunton. They married in 1964. Their first child Cindy was born with heart disease and passed away after a year-long struggle. But they continued to have five more children in the ensuing years. Dan went on to become a corrections officer for the Commonwealth at MCI Norfolk before health issues forced him to an early retirement. All the while Dan enjoyed his family camping trips, his church choir at Saint Joseph’s, and neighborhood Uno games with friends. An avid reader, one could always find him with a newspaper or book in his lap.
Dan is survived by his wife Ann of nearly 60 years, along with three daughters and two sons - Kelly Reilly of Pinellas Park, FL, Kim Riddensdale and her husband Joseph of Fryeburg, ME, Kathleen Reilly of Lakeville, MA, Keith Reilly and his wife Lauren of Natick, MA, and Kevin Reilly and his wife Wendy of Florida. He is also survived by his sister Carol and sister-in-law Barbara Keough. Dan has five grandchildren – Meghan Eckelberger, Shauna and Seth Riddensdale, Alexandra and Daniel Avila, and three step-grandchildren Jonathan Riddensdale, and RJ and Ella Vincent. Along with his many nieces and nephews. He is remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, August 17th from 10-11 am. A funeral home service will take place at 11 am. Burial will be at Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 1:45 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Daniel’s memory to the Charity of your choice.
