Timothy Lavaughn Howard, 72, died at home in Glocester, surrounded by family on August 9th, 2023. He was born December 13th 1950, in Lenox, Iowa. He was the son of Lavaughn H. Howard and Loretta I. Howard.
Tim graduated from Lenox High School in 1969, where he was a member of the wrestling team and played trumpet in the school band. He later learned the drums and formed a band called “The Leopards.” Following graduation, he joined the US Navy where he was stationed in Rhode Island, serving from 1970-1974. After his time in the navy, Tim was employed for forty-two years at Portable X-ray of Rhode Island as an x-ray technician until his retirement.
Tim was a quiet, polite, and shy man but anyone who knew him well knew he lived for a big BBQ with music playing, preferably George Strait. He loved his family and lit up when he knew a party was on the horizon. Tim was often the first one to hit the dance floor and last to leave it.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Travis L. Howard. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years Emilie J. Howard; son Jesse L. Howard and his wife Christine; daughters Tanya M. Howard and her wife Tracy Turczynski, Deana L. Salisbury, and his sister Sheila Daly. Tim was a very well-loved pappy otherwise known as “Happy” to his grandchildren Riley, Rowan, Jase, Ava, and Nora along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined.
Tim was always a cowboy at heart and will always be one in ours.
