On August 9, 2023, after a clean shave and a fresh golf shirt Alexander (“Alex”) Manocchio passed away peacefully with family by his side.
Alex was the eldest of two children (predeceased by his sister Josephine McCusker), born on April 28, 1934 in Macchiagodena, Italy, to Rachel and Guiseppe Manocchio – moving to Franklin, MA when he was six years old. Alex and his wife Pauline (Martello) spent 63 years together traveling and enjoying time with family and friends.
Alex was an avid athlete as the first four-time varsity letter holder (baseball, football, basketball, and golf) at Franklin High School, playing soccer in the military, and swimming laps in his pool. He was best known for his skills on the golf course where he still holds the record for twenty-five club championships at the Franklin Country Club and would be seen on the practice course 365, rain or shine (and even snow!).
He was the backbone of the Manocchio family, leaving behind his son Alec Manocchio and his late partner Nina Tasillo, his daughter Beth Manocchio her partner Larry Benedetto, and predeceased son Adam Manocchio and his granddaughters Alexa Manocchio (her husband Stephen Poirier), and Sonoma Manocchio. His love for his family was one of a kind and extended to his nieces and nephews on both the Manocchio and Martello side.
Alex was an army veteran, and worked as a sales rep, starting his long-standing career at Sherman Chevrolet in Franklin, MA, and retiring from Vendetti Motors at the impressive age of seventy six.
He enjoyed spending time playing golf, eagerly watching golf and the patriots and celebrating the accomplishments of his family over a good meal.
Alex left an imprint on the lives of all those who knew him for his sense of style, his integrity, his one liners and his loyalty to family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday August 15th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday from 3-7PM at the funeral home.
