Betty J. (Martin) Groff Church

Betty “Snitzy” J. (Martin) Groff Church, 100, passed away on August 2, 2023 at Wesley Manor Health Care Center, Louisville, KY.
Betty was born March 23, 1923 in Crystal, Maine. She was the daughter of Earl and Blanche (Williams) Martin. She attended Anderson High School and Anderson University and worked at Best Ever Dairy and Byrum Builders. She attended Park Place Church of God and later Anderson First United Methodist with her husband Meredith Church whom she married September 22, 1990.
Betty’s greatest love was spending time with her family. Her memberships included Anderson Country Club, Anderson Tourist Club, Jo March Club, Civic Women’s Club, YWCA Board, various bridge clubs, and volunteered with Victoria Guild in the St. John’s Gift Shop.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Martin Groff (Karen)of Noblesville, IN and Gina Wardlaw (Russ) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Peyton Groff (Mindy), Dustin Groff, Jama Haggard (Ryan), Kari Miller (Chris); great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kennadee, Scarlet, Keightley, Savannah and Avienda. Also surviving are step children; Douglas Church, Anne Morton, Deborah Miller, and Patricia Arne. Betty also had many Step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Her Grandchildren referred to as “Mama” and she loved them with all her heart.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Carl Fortner, J.C. Groff and Meredith Church, two brothers, Dan and David Martin, sister, Helen Achor Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held on September 2nd, 2023 at 12 Noon at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
