Edward “Ed”Kessler
Our dad joined the love of his life, our Mom, in heaven on August 8, 2023. We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing from cancer.
Until very recently he had been a healthy, vibrant 87 year old man who enjoyed writing poetry, fun adventures and Vegas visits with his son and partner in crime, Jeff. People were always amazed by our Dad’s youthful spirit, especially after they heard he’d ride his stationary bike seven miles a day and wasn’t on any medication other than vitamins.
He was someone who always found time to share his wisdom, support and humor with his loved ones or anyone else in need.
Prior to his retirement, he touched many lives as a teacher in the Los Angeles area and as a principal in Santa Paula. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom. Later in his career, he served as the Director of Special Projects in the Santa Paula school district office, fulfilling his passion for education and desire to help children and families.
However, our Dad’s most cherished position he ever held was the title of grandfather, also affectionately known as "Pa," a name he will forever carry with him. His love and commitment for his family brought immeasurable joy to his heart and their lives.
As we mourn the loss of our beloved dad, we take solace in knowing that he did not endure any pain. Our hearts ache with grief, but we will forever cherish the memories we share with him.
Our Dad is survived by his adoring family: his son Jeff Kessler, doting daughter Julie Billingsly, son in law, best buddy and confident Gary Billingsly, grandson Spencer Billingsly, bonus granddaughter Tatum Harris, and beloved thorn in his side, Juno the dog.
Family and friends are invited to a visiting from 10:30 to 11:00am Monday, August 14, 2023 in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura, where funeral services will follow at 11:00am with Rabbi Michael Lotker officiating. Interment will then follow at 1:00pm in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
