Stephen N. "Sledgehammer" Donovan, Sr., 68, of New Bedford passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital following a brief illness. He is now reunited with his beloved late wife, Suzette A. (Bouchard) Donovan.
Mr. Donovan was born in Fall River, son of the late Thomas R. Donovan, Sr. and the late Claire (Marchio) Donovan and had resided in Fall River for most of his life. He was the owner/operator of South End Trucking, Fall River. He enjoyed tinkering on his trucks and drag racing and he loved animals. His greatest joy was spending time with his son and grandchildren.
Survivors include his son: Stephen N. Donovan, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of S. Dartmouth; his 2 grandsons: William T. Donovan and Henry S. Donovan; his brother: Thomas R. Donovan, Jr. of Swansea; his sister: Madeline Paquet of Fall River; his girlfriend: Charlene Fahy of Freetown; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, August 14, 2023 from the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be private.
