Virginia “Ginny” O. James

Virginia “Ginny” O. James, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
She was born on July 19, 1927 in Cambridge City to Ivan and Edna Marie (Clark) Ohmit. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Ball State University, where she met her husband, Charles “Chuck” James. She married Chuck on June 6, 1951. Ginny was an elementary school teacher in the Anderson Community School for 34 years, retiring in 1992 from Killbuck school.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church , where she had served as an Elder and Trustee. Ginny was also active with Tri Kappa , Victoria Guild, Anderson Art Club, Nikophelia and Menta. Ginny lived a full life and was a wife, mother, mentor, friend and the glue that held the family together through thick and thin. She loved her family get togethers and the laughter and companionship we shared. She will be missed by all and her beloved cat, Andy.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 72 years, Chuck; children, Greg (Lynda) James, Julie Lange, and Dan (Colleen) James; grandchildren, Matt Lange, Samantha Hostetler, Erica Sharon, Hayley James and Logan James; great grandchildren, Ace Hostetler, Haven Hostetler, Brooks Sharon, Charlie Lange, Emmett Sharon and Grace Lange; brother, Glen Ohmit; sister-in-law, Judy Ohmit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Philip and sister-in-law, Marcia Ohmit.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Mike Hamm. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.Visitation will also be held on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service. The family suggests casual attire for services.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church or East Central Indiana Youth Serving Christ.
