Benjamin Algarin, 58, of Woonsocket died Saturday July 22, 2023 at home.
Born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico he was a son of Lucas Nieves of Woonsocket and Benjamin Algarin of Puerto Rico. Benjamin came to the United States as a child and grew up in the Bronx, New York. He moved back to Puerto Rico for several years. He returned to the United States and resided in Woonsocket since 1988.
In his younger years Benjamin worked in the construction industry.
Benjamin had a passion for music and a special talent for drawing. He had a huge place in his heart for animals. He liked to go for walks to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate nature.
Benjamin is survived by his mother Lucas Nieves and his step father Luis Adiaz of Woonsocket. He was the father of Richard Algarin, Isiah Collins, Rebecca Algarin and his step daughter Maria Correia. He was the brother of Christopher, Brian, Raquel, Idania and Viviane Algarin and the late Alberto Algarin who passed away in May 2023. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and his extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in the Rhode Island and New York area and in Puerto Rico.
Services for Benjamin are private. Arrangements are in care of the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
