Antonetta Ida Marzilli, 94, of Greenville RI, passed away July 28, 2023, after declining health. She was living with her son Larry, a loving caretaker, for the past many years. She was the wife of the late Loreto Marzilli. They had been married for 57 years.
She was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria Savastano. Antonetta grew up in Italy and Providence RI, where she met and married Loreto Marzilli in 1949. They had lived in Providence, RI and later moved to Greenville RI to raise their family. Antonetta is survived by two children: Ann Rochford (Tim Rochford) of East Greenwich RI and Larry Marzilli (Debra Marzilli) of Greenville RI, three grandchildren; Grace Rochford Everitt (Jason Everitt), Conor Rochford (Katie Walsh) and Devin Rochford, and two great grandchildren; Asa Daniel Everitt and Vincenzo Joseph Rochford. In addition, she is survived by brothers Salvatore Savastano, Frank Savastano, John Savastano, Lou Savastano and sister Angela D’Ambra. Antonetta was predeceased by her loving husband in 2007, her daughters, Maria and Catherine, her son Joseph and her sisters, Josephine Miele and Maria Zuccolo.
Antonetta lived her dream as a wife and mother. Though she lived with the heartache of losing two young daughters and later her beloved son, Joseph to Cystic Fibrosis, she persevered because nothing mattered more to her than her family. Antonetta opened her heart and home to family and friends. In difficult times she cared for ailing family members and friends. In good times she welcomed all, from family to the many friends of family and those who had nowhere else to go. Antonetta was a bridge and inspiration to later generations sharing stories of memories, traditions and recipes. She loved to indulge her grandchildren and of late she enjoyed time with her great grandchildren. Her spirit will live on as we continue to honor her fierce love of family and celebrate those very traditions she cherished.
A private funeral was held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Massachusetts / Rhode Island Chapter – Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
