Kateryna Dumanchuk was born on December 1, 1930 in the village of Zashkovychi, Hopodokskiy district, Lviv ’ska province, Ukraine. She attainted a pedagogue degree and taught elementary grades. Along with her husband Vasyl, they raised two daughters: Oksana and Luba. In Ukraine, Kateryna was an active member in Soyuz Ukrainok (Ukrainian National Women's League) and took an active role in politics with the Svoboda Party. She was actively involved in all political activities in Lviv and received many acknowledgements and thanks for her involvement. In 2011, Kateryna relocated to Boston to be with her daughter and on 8.16.2018 became a naturalized citizen of which she was very proud. She was an intelligent Ukrainian woman, a Christian, a firm mother, a caring grandmother and great grandmother, a loving wife. She loved to sing. She was an exemplary for her family and a true Ukrainian patriot. In sadness she left her daughters Oksana Kyrychok and Luba Kosmyna; grandchildren Nazar Kosmyna, his son Mykhailo, his wife Liudmila and daughters Oleksandra Anna and Uliana; Ulana Nosal, her husband Michael and daughters Deanna Kateryna and Sofia Anna; Yuri Kosmyna; her dear niece Maria Shulewsky Cezus and her husband Joseph, as well as close and distant relatives in America, Canada, Argentina, and Ukraine. She will be truly missed and always remembered. Kateryna’s final resting place will be in Lviv, Ukraine, next to her husband Vasyl, who died in 1995. Visiting hours at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church 146 Forest Hills St. Jamaica Plain on Wednesday August 9 from 5-7 PM. A Divine Liturgy will be held in Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church on Thursday August 10 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kateryna's memory may be made to a Ukrainian Non-Profit organization of your choice to support Ukraine's fight for freedom.
