Thomas Kenneth Bowen, 80, of Medway died suddenly August 5 at Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Dorchester, November 13, 1942, the son of the late Samuel H. and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Bowen Jr. Thomas was raised in Dedham and had lived in Bellingham for 21 years before moving to Medway in 2007.
He was a 1961 graduate of Dedham High School and also attended Northeastern University.
Thomas had been a mechanic and special police officer for the Town of Framingham Police Department for 18 years before retiring in 2009. He had previously worked in the technology field for 23 years.
Thomas proudly served in the Army during the beginning of the Vietnam War and also the Cuban Missile Crisis. He attained rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
Thomas was a life member of the Lawrence J. Heron# 6 DAV of Milford the Franklin Elks, Post 2136, a member of the Laborers Local #1156, the AMVETS #495 of Millis and the American Legion Post #18.
Thomas enjoyed watching all Boston sports, loved the Boston pops and was a huge Elvis fan.
He is survived by his siblings, Samuel H. Bowen III and his wife Gail of Douglas, Marilyn Conley and her husband Phillip of Bellingham and Eleanor Hermistone of Blackstone.
Tom is also survived by his longtime girlfriend Marjorie Braccio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10 the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com)3 Barber Street, Medway 10:00a.m. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. in the funeral home.
