Obituary

Largo, FL: John Victor Miller, 84, of Largo, FL, formerly of Worcester, MA and South Yarmouth, MA, passed peacefully on Thursday July 27th, 2023, from complications with COVID-19 and Alzheimer’s/Dementia. He was born November 12th, 1938, in the second-floor bedroom of a small home in Leicester, MA, the second child of Victor and Elma Miller. He graduated from Leicester High School in 1956.

John met his soulmate, Gayle, in the mid 60’s. They married and had two children, John-Paul and Jodi. Family vacations involved summer camping trips to the beaches of New England. John was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Leicester Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed surf fishing, deer hunting, skiing, riding the family snow mobile, car shows, and swap meets. John could always be found working in his shop on either the latest family car or one of his hot rods.

In retirement John and Gayle fulfilled a long-time dream of moving to the Cape and bought a motor home to experience the snowbird lifestyle. They were regular winter residents in Westchase, Fl, close to both Jodi, J.P. and their 5 grandchildren living in the Tampa Bay area. They were very active with the community at First Lutheran Church in Barnstable, MA, and enjoyed trips to the beach, daily drives to the canal for lunch, and car shows with the Cape Cod Classic’s car club.

John was a devoted and loving husband, brother, father and Grampy. He leaves behind an extended Finnish family in New Hampshire, Canadian family in Nova Scotia, his sister Mary Wishart, brother Paul Miller, 4 children; Robert Miller, Theresa Miller, John Paul Miller (Jennifer), Jodi Walker (Charles) and 2 stepchildren; Rick Miller (Sandra), Scott Miller (Lee). He is preceded in death by his mother, father and spouse Gayle G. Miller.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery.
