TEWKSBURY: Mary A. (Colella) DeAngelo, age 89, of Andover, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of Vincent J. DeAngelo, who passed away on February 3, 1994.
Born in Revere on May 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Nazareno Colella and the late Josephine (Tutrone) Colella.
Mary was raised in Revere and attended local Catholic schools.
She moved to Tewksbury in 1965, where she and her late husband raised their six children. In 1997, she moved to Atkinson, NH and recently to Andover MA, where she resided for the past 13 years.
Mary and her late husband enjoyed gardening and had a greenhouse at their home in Tewksbury. In addition, she enjoyed summers at their farm in Henniker, NH.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service Center in Andover and served as a union representative.
Mary is survived by her six children, Vincent J. DeAngelo, Jr. and his wife Carol Brighi DeAngelo, of Atkinson, NH, Joseph C. DeAngelo and his wife Lauriene, of East Wakefield, NH, John M. DeAngelo and his wife Rita, of Hudson, NH, Lena Mahoney and her husband Gerard, of Andover, MA, Anthony V. DeAngelo and his wife Laura, of Hampstead, NH and Frank C. DeAngelo, of Dracut MA: her grandchildren: Sarah Ozycz, Jessica DeAngelo, Ben Brighi, Michael DeAngelo, Alyssa Burke, Colleen DeAngelo, John Michael DeAngelo, II, Jamie DeAngelo, Lauren Mahoney, Nikolas DeAngelo, Anthony DeAngelo and Ava DeAngelo: her great grandchildren, Nora Ozycz, Evelyn Burke, Sophia Burke, Blakelyn DeAngelo and Madison Brighi. Mary is the sister of Anthony Colella, of Somerville, Peter Colella, of Somerville, Connie Nyman, of Swampscott and the late Guy Colella, Joseph Colella, Rosalie Whalen, John Colella and Josephine Racki. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 8th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, August 9th, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment services will be Wednesday, August 9th, at 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
