Kay (Nickell) Dease age 83 of Ventura, California went home to her loving Savior on July 30, 2023. Kay was born July 27, 1940, in Ashland, KY. The only child of John Paul and Frances Nickell. Raised in New York, her father worked for CBS Television and was transferred to Los Angeles, California in 1957. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1958 where she met some of her closest friends. After graduation, Kay attended Santa Monica City College and graduated from USC in 1963 with a teaching degree. She taught at Los Angeles Unified School District for 32 years, when she touched many students' lives with her big heart and smile. Kay married Bill (William) Dease in 1968 and moved to Agoura Hills in 1974 with their only daughter, Kristina. Kay loved Jesus our Lord and was an active member of Agoura Hills Christian Church and enjoyed needlepoint, where she would hand-make with love many personalized pieces for family and friends. Kay was a true Dodger fan, even before they moved to L.A. She performed and directed many plays in Southern California, especially working with First Light Players. Kay and her husband enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, especially those from BHHS, which all became a second family. Kay is survived by her daughter Kristina, son-in-law Tory and her grandchildren Tyler and Kai. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Ventura Townehouse for being attentive and compassionate in the care of Kay during her residence, and to Assisted Hospice/Living for their kindness and professionalism. A celebration of life is being considered in the next few months.
