Vaso Gaxhi, 82, of Worcester, died Monday, July 31st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Marjanthi (Mitro) Gaxhi; his children, Angjelina Kola and her husband, Shpend, Rajmonda Gaxhi, and Ilir Gaxhi and his wife, Hava Kokomani; a brother, Andrea Gaxhi and his wife, Marjana; and six grandchildren all of Worcester.
He was born in Gjirokaster, Albania, the son of Nase and Krisulla Gaxhi, and immigrated to the United States in November of 2009. Vaso was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. He enjoyed Elm Park and socializing within the Albanian Community. Vaso cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His funeral is Friday, August 4th, in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Church, 535 Salisbury Street, with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th, in St. Mary
s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church from 10:00 until the start of the service. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is assisting the family with arrangements.
