Marblehead
Diane G. (Dickhut) Fischer, 79, of Malden, a former resident of Marblehead, passed away at CHA Everett Hospital in Everett on Saturday, July 29, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in Geneva, Illinois and raised in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Gail H. and Reva L. (Joshel) Dickhut.
Diane received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wichita State University and her Master’s from Salem State College in Social Work. She first worked for the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Swampscott, and later for East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. She then worked at North Shore Elder Services until she retired from Social Work. Diane retired in 2014 with over 30 years working with the elderly. Over the years, she developed many long term friendships with co-workers and clients. She advised, helped and served the community which brought her such a sense of accomplishment and worth. She was kind, compassionate, easy to talk to and possessed a wonderful sense of humor.
Diane loved her friends including "The Lunch Bunch", her dear friends Janice A'hearn & Debbie Seiberg, and her Forestdale friends, staff and family. Diane loved to shop and was a frequent flyer to Talbot's, she loved a good mani/Pedi, zumba and traveling including Egypt, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Colorado, New Orleans and Florida. She loved her adopted town of Marblehead. Her selflessness, her hearty laugh, kind smile, warm embraces and sweet spirit will not be forgotten.
Diane is survived by her three children, Mark D. Fischer and wife Sally of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Rachel M. Kropewnicki and husband John of Melrose and Sarah E. Jones and husband Christopher of Braintree, as well as grandchildren Nicole Fischer of N Andover, Anya Kropewnicki of Melrose and Christopher of Braintree. She also leaves her sister, Gwen Eurich of Nebraska and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 9:30 to 10:30 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead at 11:00 AM, followed by her burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Salem.
