Anthony M. Ansaldi passed away at home peacefully in the company of his loving family on Friday morning. He was 85. Anthony was born and raised in Boston’s North end, the son of the late Ignazio and Crocifissa (Amata) Ansaldi.
Anthony was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He lived with his family in East Boston after they moved from the North End and he lived most of his life in Medford. Anthony served in the Army Reserve as a young man and reached the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from the Wentworth Institute. Anthony had a strong work ethic. Even as a young boy he shined shoes and was proud to always have a few coins in his pocket. Anthony served with the Department of Revenue for over thirty years, before his retirement. His career started in the mail room and advanced to leadership positions in the audit division and also supervising facilities and property. He was also a longtime member of the Sons of Italy, Lodge 1580. Anthony loved having family and friends around. He kept a beautiful and productive garden and he and Adeline always looked forward to having people over the house. He and Adeline enjoyed bingo, casino trips and cruises. To mark their 50th wedding anniversary Anthony treated the whole family to a Royal Caribbean cruise. Anthony will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering devotion to his wife of 63 years, his children, grandsons, relatives, neighbors and friends.
The beloved husband of Adeline N. (Santoro) Ansaldi, with whom he proudly shared 63 years of marriage, he was a devoted father to Paula A. Cicoria and her husband Frank of Medford, Anthony Ansaldi, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Malden, and the late Laurie Atkinson and her surviving husband Greg Atkinson of Stoneham. Anthony was a loving grandfather to AJ Ansaldi, Joseph Cicoria, Christopher Ansaldi and Nicholas Ansaldi. He was a dear brother of the late Baby Frances, Frances D’Angelo and her late husband Paul, Nina Ansaldi, Josephine Ansaldi, Joseph “Ed” Ansaldi and his surviving wife Fannie, the late Catherine Ciccarello and her late husband Joe "Chick", the late Nicholas Ansaldi and the late Steve Ansaldi and his surviving wife Connie. He also leaves many devoted nieces and nephews.
Anthony’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, August 3rd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston’s North End, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Wednesday 4 - 8 PM.
