Richard J. “Rick” Lally, Jr., 73, of Acushnet passed away Sunday July 30, 2023 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Correia) Lally.
Born in Dorchester, the son of the late Richard J. and Anna M. (Colfer) Lally, he lived in Acushnet for the past 50 years.
Rick was formerly employed as a casting supervisor at Revere Copper and Brass for 30 years. He retired as a court officer from the Brockton Trial Court after 10 years of service.
He was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School. He was a longtime member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a member of the Romeos Breakfast Club, an appointed member of the Acushnet Zoning Board of Appeals, and a longtime volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital Surgi-center and St. Mary’s Church Bingo in New Bedford.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; his daughter, Dawn Giampa and her husband Peter; his siblings, Maureen Chace and her husband William, Kathryn Freitas and her husband Dennis, and John Lally and his wife Judy; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Allison; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother James Lally.
His funeral will be held on Thursday August 3rd at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM. Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday August 2nd from 4-8 PM.
