Paul E. Mullert, age 85, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Elaine M. (Gordon) Mullert, to whom he was wed for sixty years.
Born in Wayne, New Jersey on April 18, 1938, he was a loving son of the late Gustav “Gus”and Viola (Drexler) Mullert.
Paul grew up in Wayne, New Jerset and was a graduate of Wayne High School, where he served as Class President and excelled in football and track. He continued his education, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University, also playing tailback on the football team and as a member of the track team.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Mullert worked many years as a National Account Manager for Hallmark Cards. A resident of Mansfield for the past two years, he previously lived for forty years in Rehoboth and was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church, serving as a former Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Church Choir.
Paul’s family was truly the essence of his life. As a young man, along with his father and their beagles, he enjoyed rabbit hunting in Upstate New York and later in life saltwater fishing and metal detecting, hobbies he shared with his sons. When older he delighted in playing recreational sports with friends and always remained an avid New England sports fan, watching sporting event on TV in the comfort of his home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted sons: Kenneth P. Mullert and his wife Janet of Mansfield, Drew G. Mullert and his wife Stacey of Mansfield and David M. Mullert of Rehoboth. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Julia Mullert, Jack Mullert, Stephen Mullert and Jennifer Mullert, all of Mansfield. He was the dear brother of the late Robert Mullert.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
