Paul K. Gearty
Retired Tewksbury Police Lieutenant
TEWKSBURY: Paul K. Gearty, age 90, a resident of Tewksbury for 63 years, formerly of Wilmington, passed away at home on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Louise (Flucker) Gearty, who passed away on June 15, 2022.
Born in Woburn on September 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Leo Gearty and the late Florence (Crowe) Gearty.
Paul was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. He later attended Northern Essex Community College, where he received an associate degree in criminal justice.
Prior to his retirement in 1993, he served on the Tewksbury Police Department for 28 years and retired having achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
Paul enjoyed reading, games of chance, and was an avid follower of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He is survived by two daughters, Robbin L. Dunn and her husband Duane, and Paula A. Gregory: five grandchildren, Zachary J. Dunn and his wife Mariah, Rachel C. Dunn, Patrick R. Dunn and his girlfriend, Taylor Cook, Allison A. Gregory, and Michaela F. Gregory and her boyfriend, Jonathan Merritt: one great granddaughter, Aspen Dunn: his sister-in-law, Roberta C. Kane: four nephews, Richard, Jack, Tom and Bob Gearty: one niece, Joan Gearty McDonough. He leaves many extended family members, neighbors, and friends.
Calling hours are Wednesday, August 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediate followed by services to be held at the funeral home and interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
