Lucas Nathan Carter, 41, of Fitzgerald went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday July 28th, after an extended illness. He peacefully left this earth at his home in his sleep with both his Daddy and Mama with him at his special place in the country that he loved so much.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, July 31, 2023, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Tift County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Luke was born September 18, 1981, to Nathan and Dee Ann Carter. While Luke had many challenges in this life, he had more bravery and strength than many can imagine. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies over the years including hunting, fishing, drag racing, swimming, watching football, riding his golf cart, and attending church. He was a member of Liberty Baptist for many years and had recently begun attending services at DeBerry Baptist in Ambrose. Luke never met a stranger and loved everyone, but he especially loved his Lord.
Luke leaves behind a large group of family, church family, and friends. He is survived by his parents, Nathan (Lisa) Carter of Fitzgerald, Dee Ann Lord Webb of Tifton, and Wanda Hart of Fitzgerald; siblings: Matt Webb, Kate (Clay) Gray, and James (Rachel) Webb all of Tifton; uncles: Robert (Cheryle) Lord of Marietta, Carl (Debbie) Lord of North Carolina; aunts: Denise (Walt) Dockery of Broxton, Lamons Lord Warren of Tallahassee, Florida, Lorraine Lord MacCarroll of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and Dora (Alan) Dryden of Rockmart. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive along with many friends. Luke was preceded in death by his grandparents: Roosevelt “Boots” & Geraldine Fowler “Granny” Carter and William Franklin “Bill” & Ethel Gourley Lord; and one cousin, Marcus Carter Cauley.
