Lowell - Jose Viera
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Viera, who peacefully left us at the age of 43 on July 26, 2023, at Tufts Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He succumbed to complications arising from Heart Failure, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of friendship.
Born on May 22, 1980, in Passaic, NJ, Jose spent his early years in his hometown where he received his education and nurtured lifelong friendships. In 2000, he moved to Lowell, where he continued to make lasting connections with those around him.
Jose had a passion for Rap Music, with a special love for action movies and cartoons, especially Tom and Jerry. He enjoyed spending leisure hours engrossed in watching TV, relishing the company of friends and strangers alike at his dear friend Mark's barbershop, Upper Cut'z. He went there every day, and he found joy in making new acquaintances and establishing strong bonds with the customers.
Left to cherish his memory are his three siblings: Dayanara Alvarez of Lowell, Yariel O. Alvarez of Ocala, FL, and Xavier Viera of Passaic, NJ. Jose held a special place in his heart for his aunts and uncles, especially Marilia Santana, who lovingly cared for him since his mother's passing in 2011, and Icela Santana, Yomitza Martinez, Roxanna Santana, Margaret Santana, and Robert Santana, all of Lowell. He also leaves behind Aristides Santana, Gustavo Santana, Angel M. Martinez, Danilo Santana, and Edgardo Martinez, all of Puerto Rico.
In addition to his extended family, Jose is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends he formed close bonds with during his time at the downtown barber shop.
Jose was predeceased by his beloved mother, Maritza Santana, whose memory he held dear in his heart.
