Doris Marie Hannon (née Lavoie), 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023, in South Kingstown, RI. She was the daughter of the late Doris (née St. Germain) and Roland Lavoie. With her twin sister, Diane, she was born on October 13, 1938, at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA.
Doris was a devoted sister to Jackie Maltais of Tiverton, and Paul Lavoie of California. She is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Lavoie, and her identical twin, Diane Murphy, with whom she had a special bond.
Doris was the former spouse of the late John Hannon and a loving mother to Nicholas (Sheila) Hannon of Marlton, NJ, and Jacqueline Barrington of Warwick, RI. She cherished her role as Memere to her seven grandchildren: Kathleen (Andrew), Kevin (Melissa), Maeve, Michael, Joshua, Samuel, and Ian. Their lives are enriched by her constant love, wisdom, and guidance.
Doris was a woman of considerable determination. After raising Nick and Jackie, she continued to work well past retirement age for various companies, including The Observer newspaper, Hurd Automotive, the Autotrader, and Toyota of Dartmouth. Her work ethic and commitment to her responsibilities were admired by those who worked alongside her.
Doris thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed attempting new dishes across different cuisines, assortments of desserts, and the traditional tourtiere and pork stuffing anticipated by her family especially during the holidays.
After growing up in Fall River, Doris lived in Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Alabama, embracing different experiences, making friends and creating lasting memories.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until 10:45 am on Monday, August 7, at St. John the Baptist Church in Westport, MA.
A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 am. Doris will be interred with her beloved mother at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River, MA. immediately afterward.

Doris Marie Hannon touched the lives of many with her love, kindness, friendship, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
