James Francis O'Donnell, age 92, of Mountain Top, PA, passed away on the evening of July 24, 2023, at The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre PA where he had been residing with his beloved wife Lorraine. James had been struggling with declining health for some years, and passed away peacefully in his sleep. James and Lorraine were married for 66 years, and his love for his wife and children was immeasurable. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. He devoted his professional life to product engineering at The Gillette Company in Boston, where he worked for 35 years.
James spent his childhood in Dorchester, MA. After serving his country, he met his wife and together they lived in Whitman for 52 years, before relocating to Pennsylvania 11 years ago. James was a devoted family man who cherished his wife and children. He was passionate about various hobbies including Ham radio, photography, playing the trumpet, electronics, astronomy, and engaging in philosophical discussions.
In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by his four children: James M. O’Donnell of Lake Worth, FL, Kevin O’Donnell of Mount Airy, NC, Sandra Murray of Pembroke, MA and Michael W. O’Donnell of Mountain Top, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Kathrine Farris, Kevin O’Donnell, Victoria Weymouth, Benjamin O’Donnell, Jorge Ortiz, Rebecca Ortiz, Julia O’Donnell, Michael O’Donnell, and Madison O’Donnell, as well as eight great grandchildren: Cam, Benjamin, Grace, Cary, Corbin, McCoy, Kaiden, and Tucker. Additionally, he is survived by siblings Phyllis Spezzano, Pat Graham, and Rita Corbett. He was the brother of the late Richard O’Donnell, Anna O’Donnell, and Marie Johnson.
James' family invites relatives and friends to join them for a visitation on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Conley Funeral Home located at 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. The funeral service will commence at 10:00 am, followed by interment with military honors at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
