TAMWORTH, NH ---- Richard Joseph Fichtner, 72, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Richard was born on December 11, 1950, in Boston, MA. He was the beloved son of George A. and Teresa E. (McDonough) Fichtner and brother to Theresa Collins, George Fichtner, Paula Stack, Patricia Hogan, William Fichtner, Robert Fichtner, Corrinne Kina, Marie Fichtner, Mark Fichtner and Gerald Fichtner.
He was a devoted father to Marlana Fichtner and Christopher Worrell of Shirley, MA; Michelle Fichtner and Nicholas Longley of Tamworth, NH; Richard Fichtner II and Meagan Allen of Wolcott, VT; and Andrew Fichtner of Morrisville, VT. Forever friends with ex-wife Cathy Fichtner. Loving “Dampa” to Slovan Metellus, Brandon Longley, Derek Longley, Alexander Longley, Hailey Fichtner, Eathan McGuire, and Jaqari Worrell. And, “Uncle Richie” to many adored nieces, nephews, in-laws and close family friends.
Our first hero and a lifetime friend, there’s nothing Dad enjoyed more than laughter and good times with his family, controversial debates with his children, target shooting with his grandkids and quiet walks in the woods. A retired employee of the US Postal Service, he worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. He instilled a love of learning, reading and critical thinking in each of his children and grandchildren… leaving a legacy in each of them that he was so incredibly proud of.
Per Richard’s request, there will be no services at this time. Condolences to the family may be sent to Michelle Fichtner, PO Box 556, Tamworth, NH 03886.
