A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us to celebrate the life of John P. DiStasio, 76, who passed away peacefully at Exeter Hospital (NH) on Wednesday, July 26, surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 8, 1947, he was the beloved son of the late Amorino (Tammy) DiStasio and his wife, Jennie (Arena). Raised in Medford, John was a gifted student athlete. After graduating from St. Clement H.S. in 1965, he joined the Naval Reserve and returned to Medford where he and his wife Maureen would raise their family. John graduated with honors from Northeastern University where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his accomplished career as an Engineer, he held a variety of positions which enabled him to travel internationally, visiting many different countries. He shared his love of travel with Maureen and together, they journeyed to many beautiful destinations.
Never one to slow down, John enjoyed balancing his work and family life with sports. He was a member of several sports leagues including softball, basketball, and bowling. However, his true passion was golf which he played as often as he could. Hardworking, kind, generous, and devoted to his family, John made many life-long friends but no one was dearer to him than his wife Maureen, who he started dating in junior high school. Intelligent and gifted with a keen sense of humor, John could be relied upon for his problem-solving skills and a good joke. He often reminded his family that he never needed to read assembly instructions and his ability to solve math equations without pen and paper was one of his many unique skills.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years Maureen (Curtin) DiStasio and his three daughters, Elisa Pollard and her husband Kevin, Laura DiStasio, and Kristen DiStasio. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Cristiani, sister-in-law Kathleen Lynch and her husband Edward, brothers-in-law Michael Curtin and his wife Cherie, and Francis Curtin and his wife Helen. He was a proud “Papa” to his seven grandchildren, Evan, Brittany, Sarah, Adam, Christa, Zachary, and Xavier. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit and pay their respects on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 2 through 5 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, with a service to follow at 5 PM.
