Anthony J. “Tony” Gruttadauria, 78, of Medway, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of RoseMarie (Barry) Gruttadauria for 57 years.
Born in Derby, Connecticut on January 2, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella (Guarneri) Gruttadauria.
Tony was a resident of Medway for the past 44 years. He grew up in Derby, graduated from Derby High School, and earned an Associate’s Degree from the Hartford Institute of Accounting and his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Haven.
He proudly served in the Connecticut National Guard for six years.
Before his retirement, Tony worked as a controller at TRW-Fasteners Division in Westminster, Massachusetts for 37 years. He was also the co-owner of The Pro Image in Franklin for 10 years.
Tony had served as the president of the National Association of Accountants, Waterbury Chapter. He also coached youth basketball and baseball in the town of Medway for many years when his boys were young.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons Michael Gruttadauria and his wife Tracy of Columbus, Ohio, Bryan Gruttadauria of Falmouth and Matthew Gruttadauria and his wife Lisa of Sandwich.
He is also survived by his brother Salvatore Gruttadauria of Derby, his sister Lucy Miserez of Waterbury, Connecticut, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his friend and beloved dog CoCo.
He was the brother of the late Michael Gruttadauria, Josephine Pisacane, Frances Mantini, Rosemary Curcio, Dolores Stamp and Joseph Gruttadauria.
Tony’s funeral services are private at the request of his family. A Celebration of Life will be held in Derby, Connecticut at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Tony’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
