Rodney A. Bartlett, 71, of Atkinson, passed away Tuesday July 25, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rod was born June 2, 1952, in Berlin, MA and was the son of the late Phillip and Ida (Nowlan) Bartlett. He was raised and educated in Berlin and graduated from U Mass Amherst with a BS in Civil Engineering.
Rodney was employed in several positions with the Derry Public Works Department from 1979 to 1990. He then worked for the Town of Salem NH as the Public Works Director. He then became Public Works Director with the Town of Peterborough. He then served as the Town Administrator for Peterborough. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to make chili for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Linda (Filocamo) Bartlett of Atkinson, a son, Joshua Bartlett and his wife Bernice of Brimfield, MA, four daughters, Sarah Bartlett Clark and her husband T.J. of Templeton, MA, Taylor Bartlett, Bailey Bartlett Gibson and her husband Allen of Stockdale, TX and Reilly Bartlett Foster and her husband Greg of Gilford, NH, three stepdaughters, Danielle Casey of Derry, NH, Chelsea Casey and her husband Nick of Manchester, NH and Alyssa Casey of Atkinson, three sisters, Debbie Bartlett Pelkey of Forestdale, MA, Karen Bartlett of Clinton, MA, and Amy Bartlett Messcher of Ayer, MA, 14 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
After cremation, a memorial reception will be held on Saturday July 29, 2023, from 9 to 11 am, with a Catholic prayer service at 11 am.at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium 15 Birch Street Derry, NH., interment of his urn will follow at Atkinson Cemetery.
