Laverne Brewer Taylor, 78, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Southwell Health and Rehab in Adel. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John Hughes officiating. Harold Abbott will give a eulogy. Mrs. Taylor will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Tyner Kilgore, Charlie Taylor, Steve Cadwell, Jack Chandler, Ronnie Franks, Drew Heffring, Raleigh Moorman and Robert Zimmerman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Merle Bowen Sunday School Class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Born December 2, 1944, in Tifton, Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late Earl Brewer and Coretta Towson Brewer. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Before retiring, she was employed by Sun Trust Bank and she was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and she enjoyed keeping up with her 1962 graduating class from Tifton High School.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Perry Taylor of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jill Taylor of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Taylor of Knoxville, Tennessee and Tammy and Danny Kilgore of Blakely; two sisters-in-law, Norma Ann Brewer of Tifton and Daphne Brewer of Bishop; and four grandchildren, Marlee Taylor, Charlie Taylor, Taylor Kilgore and Tyner Kilgore.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Merle Bowen Sunday School Class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church, 404 Love Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.
