Obituary

KATHARINE L. (WILSON) THOMSON, age 90, a Hingham resident for over 50 years, died on Saturday, June 17th at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. She was born, raised and educated in Montclair, New Jersey. Mrs. Thomson was a 1937 graduate of Mt. Holyoke College and for many years was the class scribe. Years ago she was Administrator of the Religious Education Publishing Division of Charles Scribner & Sons of New York City and also served as editor for Ernest Hemingway and Reinhold Neiber. During her years in Montclair, she was the next door neighbor of Thomas Edison and had many lively stories of her encounters with him. Mrs. Thomson was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hingham where she was formerly church administrator. She was also honored by the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth for her many years of volunteer service. In addition, she was a devoted knitter for the Seamans Church Institute of New York & New Jersey and was an avid flower and bird lover.

Wife of the late James L.H. Thomson, Jr., she leaves her son, Douglas A. Thomson and his wife Joy of Hingham. Mother in Law of Diana K. Thomson, grandmother of Alan J. Thomson and great grandmother of Ashleigh Thomson and Amara Thomson all of Linden, NC. She was also the mother of the late James L.H. Thomson, III.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, July 1st at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 85 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.

Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Hingham.

The interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne is to be private.
