Patricia Anne Flaherty, 63, of East Walpole, formerly of Winchester, passed away peacefully on July 23 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Russi Wadia.
Born in Worcester, “Patty” was predeceased by her parents: Anne T. (Murphy) and Thomas A. Flaherty MD.
She was raised in Winchester and graduated from Winchester High School in 1978. She went on to receive a degree in Economics from Boston College in 1982. After college she launched a career in financial planning which spanned forty years. Her most recent position was Vice President-Investments at Wealth Effects.
Patty was a dedicated and recognized alumna of Boston College. She was a founding member of the Council for Women of BC and a member of Blue Chips. She also served on the Finance Committee for the Town of Winchester.
After many years together, Patty married Russi in 2005. They settled in East Walpole. They were avid golfers and traveled to many destinations worldwide. Despite the distance of their many journeys, Cape Cod was dearest to Patty’s heart. Patty and Russi were deeply devoted to each other and to their dog, Pookie.
Her kindness, strength of character, generosity and selfless manner earned Patty more friends than can be counted. Her quick wit revealed her intelligence. Many sought her patient counsel to help bear their own difficulties. As Patty’s health declined, she was blessed with a group of helpers who eased her burden. She felt gratitude and comfort whenever they were near. Patty maintained lasting friendships from the milestone stages of her life. She never lost contact with these faithful friends.
In addition to her husband Russi, Patty is lovingly survived by her sisters Susan Scanlan and her children Patrick and Aine of Hanover and Anne (Nancy) Strong, her husband Robert and son David of Winchester. She is also survived by her beloved Aunt Helen McLaughlin of Concord, Uncle Richard Brown of North Reading and many devoted cousins and their families.
At this time, we ask that you honor Patty with a simple act of kindness.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
