Gilbert F. Turcotte, Jr. (Champ) 69 of Lowell, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, July 13, 2023. He was raised in Lynn and was born on December 27, 1953 and was a son of the late Gilbert F. Turcotte Sr. and the late Dorothy F. (Crannon) Turcotte.
Gilbert joined the United States Army and served in Korea until receiving an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he gained experience in the shipping and receiving industry, working at various places in Lowell, such as Walmart and Sweetheart Paper Products.
He had a passion for oil painting, collecting items, with a particular interest in coins and stamps. Gilbert enjoyed reading extensively and cherished taking long rides to the mountains. He also enjoyed the ocean and light houses. He will be fondly remembered for his kind, soft-spoken nature, and his generous spirit. Whenever someone he cared about needed assistance, he was always willing to go the extra mile, even giving the shirt off his back to help others in need.
He is survived by his sisters, Elsa Whalen of Nashua, NH and Mary Hussey of Peabody; his sister in law, Maureen Turcotte of Dracut; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, the late Charles A. Turcotte III (Buddy)
