Joseph M. Johnston, 70

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Joseph M. Johnston, age 70, of Mansfield, formerly of Norton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Accent Care Inpatient Hospice Center in Milton.

Born in Boston, MA on May 28, 1953, he was a loving son of the late Wilfred A. and Helen C. (MacLean) Johnston.

Joe grew up in East Boston. His family later moved to Norton, where he was a graduate of Norton High School. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past thirty-five years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield.

Joe had worked as a Patient Advocate at the former NORCAP Lodge in Foxborough. Through his affiliation for twenty-nine years as a friend of Bill W, he continuously helped many people overcome challenges and obstacles in their lives. Joe loved spending time with family and friends, was a talented musician; especially playing guitar and when younger enjoyed hiking and camping.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Angela Snow of Hyannis. He was the cherished grandfather of Brianna Snow, Victoria Snow and Sophia Snow, all of Hyannis. He was the dear brother of Sarah A. Johnston of Attleboro, John J. Johnston and his wife Jeannie of Sebring, Florida, Ellen J. Cataloni and her late husband John N. Cataloni of Norton, the late James F. Johnston and his wife Barbara Johnston and Jerome A. Johnston, who is survived by his wife Mary “Tooker” Johnston of East Boston. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews and was the former husband of Toni (Daniels) Houde of Hyannis.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 9th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield on Thursday, August 10th at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
