Joan (O'Shea) Grand, 89, a beloved resident of Lowell since 1957, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Lowell General Hospital. Joan was the loving wife of the late William Grand Sr., who departed in 1993 after nearly forty years of cherished marriage.
Born on July 13, 1934, Joan was the daughter of the late Michael O'Shea and the late Hanna (Murphy) O'Shea. She was raised in the Somerville and Everett area, where she attended local schools and built lifelong connections.
Joan had a passion for sewing and her talent brought joy to countless individuals over the years. She took pride in creating beautiful garments for many people in her community. Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Joan found solace in listening to Irish music, a testament to her strong connection to her Irish heritage.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Joan is survived by her two children, William Grand Jr. and his wife, Irene, of Strafford, NH, and Donna Monty and her husband, James, of Hudson, NH. Additionally, she is survived by her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Perry of Holliston, MA, and John O'Shea and his wife, Virginia, of Canton, CT, her sister in law Catherine Wood of Tewksbury, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald O'Shea, whose memory she carried in her heart.
Her departure leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, all are welcome to attend her funeral mass at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell.
