Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - It is with sadness that we mourn the passing of Maurice V. "Moe" Kelly, Jr., 74, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, who was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 20, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1949 to Maurice and Alice (Duffus) Kelly. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years. Following his military service, he became a Springfield Firefighter for 32 years with pride and honor. Moe leaves his beloved wife of 49 years, Susan (Siano) Kelly; his loving daughter, Cara O'Connor and her husband, Thomas; his three cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Kennedy and Ireland; and his many dear extended family members and friends who are left to find peace and comfort in his memory and love. His funeral will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-727-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
