Muriel E. Morse, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 17, 2023.
Muriel was the daughter of the late Hormidas and Beatrice Giroux of New Bedford and the wife of the late Reverend Francis B. Morse, Jr., to whom she was married for over 60 years.
Muriel dedicated her life to serving her community. For over 40 years, she proudly volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital. She also served as president of the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, the Ivy Circle of New Bedford, the Council of Women's Organizations of Greater New Bedford, and the Third District Club of Massachusetts. She was an Advisory Board Member for the Salvation Army and a volunteer of the Missionaries of Charity. She was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth and a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Muriel leaves her children Kevin John Higham and his wife Kathleen of New Bedford, Daune Elizabeth Lowney of New Bedford, Lisa Frances Medeiros of Rhode Island; grandchildren Alison Higham of New Bedford, Linsey Trombino and her husband Todd of Rhode Island, Ashley Koles and her husband Roman of Natick, Patrick Higham and his wife Lauren of New Bedford, Kelley Resendes and her husband Nicholas of Washington, DC, and Chace Medeiros and his wife Lily of North Carolina; and great-grandchildren Micah, Lucy, Arthur, Troy, Calvin, and Mila.
Private services honoring Muriel were held on Thursday July 20th at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.
