Daniel M. “Danny” Donovan Jr, 64, a lifelong resident of Whitman, MA, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1959, he was the beloved son of Elaine (Cosgrove) Donovan and the late Daniel Donovan Sr.
He graduated from Whitman Hanson High School in 1977 and pursued higher education, obtaining his Associates degree at Johnson & Wales University. Daniel dedicated 33 years of his life to Roche Brothers Supermarket, working as a Catering Sales Manager.
His love for New England took him and his family on memorable trips across the region, where he captured its beauty through photography. Scituate Light and Portland Head Light held a special place in his heart.
A true Boston sports fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox. Danny’s enthusiasm for his favorite teams brought joy to his life and those around him. He also enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Connors) Donovan of 29 years and his children Ryan Donovan of Taunton, Matthew Donovan of Somerville, and Julia Donovan of Whitman. His mother Elaine (Cosgrove) Donovan, his sister Lisa (Donovan) Riley and her husband Richie Riley, of Bridgewater and his brother David Donovan, of Bridgewater.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Thursday July 27 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and his funeral service on Friday July 28 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to be made in his name to Dana Farber Pancreatic Cancer Research, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
