Obituary

Hugh “Bob” Deery
May 8th, 1935 – July 19th, 2023

Hugh "Bob" Deery of Dennis, MA and Naples, FL passed peacefully on July 19th, 2023, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Doherty) Deery, and their three children: Jane Deery of Boston, Robert and his wife Deb Deery of Westwood, Nanci and her husband Rob Cicchetti of Dennis, his sisters Eileen Connare of Hanover and Roseanne McLean of Braintree and brother Joseph Deery of Braintree. He was proud of his four grandchildren: Andrew and Jenna Deery, and Jane and Robby Cicchetti.

Bob grew up in Rosilindale, MA. and as a young man, he served in the 1st Marine Division Air Wing with a deployment in Japan from 1955-1958. He then worked for the Department of Defense, a career that spanned 30 years and exposed him to the World.

Bob shared 57 years of marriage with Mary and together they raised their children in Boston, enjoying summers on Cape Cod where they formed lifelong friendships. Later, they spent winters in Naples, FL. cherishing new friends and golf-living at Forest Glenn.

Bob was a lifelong Patriots fan and held season tickets for over a decade. An avid reader and skilled carpenter, Bob pursued many interests. He was a man of great faith and a dedicated parishioner of the Catholic Church. His unparalleled work ethic, altruistic nature and moral compass left a mark on all he knew and made everyone want to be a little bit more like Bob - a true Citizen of Humanity.

A memorial visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church in Brewster, MA on July 26, 2023, at 10:15 am, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Fund: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/DONATE
