Barbara Ann Clifford-LaPorta, a longtime resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease surrounded by her loving nieces. She was 86 years of age.
Barbara was born in Boston on March 3, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles L. Clifford and Catherine M. (Curran) Clifford. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston. She furthered her education and received her Bachelors Degree from Regis College and her Masters Degree from Salem State College. Barbara was a Sister of St. Joseph for seventeen years and taught in the Malden School system for thirty-seven years.
Barbara is the beloved wife of the late Anthony M. LaPorta. She is the devoted sister of Atty. Charles A."Buddy" Clifford and his partner Peg Walsh and his late wife Veronica of Burlington and the late Sr. Carol "Maureen" Clifford and Edmund "Teddy" Clifford and his surviving wife Frances of Melrose. Barbara is the dear cousin of Joseph "Jay" Folkard and his partner Dennis of Palm Springs, California and Mary "Jackie" Folkard and her wife Anita of American Canyon, California. Barbara is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnephews and her many faithful and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's visiting hours on Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023, from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 118 High St. Medford at 11:30 A.M. Her burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
