James E. Misner 96, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Wednesday July 19, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, following an illness. He was the husband of the late Beth Jean (Swain) Misner, who died in 2014.
Born June 5, 1927 in Tacoma, Washington a son of the late Barney G. and Lillie C. (Bumann) Misner, he was a resident of Franklin for many years.
He was raised and educated in Centralia, Washington and until his retirement many years ago, he worked as a security agent for Wells-Fargo.
A proud American he served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in October 1954.
He enjoyed photography and watching the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. He was also an active member of the Bethany Community Church in Mendon.
He is survived by a son James L. Misner of Oregon, stepsons, Larry S. Fox of Utah and Darrel L. Fox of Oregon.
He was the brother of the late Roy W. Misner, Vera Czerwenka, Harold Misner and Margie Bell.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Saturday July 29th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 1-3PM.
A prayer service will follow at 3PM.
Burial will take place at Oak Hills Cemetery, Eugene Oregon.
