Obituary

New Bedford – Daniel D. Centeio, age 59, of New Bedford passed away on July 18, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital. after a long fight with illness.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, He was the Beloved son of Maria (DeSousa) Centeio and the late Miguel F. Centeio. Daniel served proudly in the United States Army for several years before his honorable discharge.

Daniel is survived by his mother Maria (DeSousa) Centeio; his children Daniel Centeio, Dana Centeio, and Julianna Centeio; his sisters Irma Carlisle, Flora Centeio, Margarida Masden, and Margarida Silva; his brothers Joaquim “jack” Centeio, and David Monteiro; his uncle Joaquim DeSousa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Daniel was predeceased by his grandparents Eduardo DeSousa and Margarida DeSousa; and his siblings Dolores Bessant, George Centeio, and Jose Maria Centeio.

Daniels Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Daniels funeral service will begin at Perry Funeral Home on Monday at 8:00 A.M. followed by mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 47 S. Sixth St, New Bedford, MA 02740 at 9:00 A.M., burial will take place at Rural Cemetery.
