Obituary


Thomas B. Woodcock, 73, of Attleboro, MA, passed away after a long illness on Monday, July 17, 2023.

The son of the late Thomas B. and Mary T. (McConaghy) Woodcock. He was the brother of Mary Beth Woodcock of Texas, Paul (Mary) Woodcock of Riverside RI, and the late Francis Woodcock. He also leaves his children, Melissa (Charles) Liversedge of New York, Naithen Pion of Somerset, MA, Erika (Aaron) Woodcock-Ellertson of North Carolina, Leah (James) Knowlton of Ohio, Theresa Woodcock, her life partner James Gonsalves of North Providence, RI, a biological son Nicholas McLaughlin, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Although divorced for many years, Thomas was still an active and beloved part of the extensive family of his ex-wife Mary (Pion) Surkont.

Thomas was born and raised in Rhode Island, graduating from Pawtucket West Senior High School in 1968. His life revolved around music. A tremendously gifted sound engineer, Thomas’ illustrious career began in the 1970’s as the sound man for a band called The Beagles. With his work in music spanning over four decades, he was employed by countless talented artists, including running house sound at The Living Room (original) in Providence, RI, while simultaneously working at Rhode Island Music in Pawtucket. In the mid 1980’s, he began touring with the band Extreme. This was followed by numerous tours with both Tom Jones and Michael Bolton before his retirement in 2015. Thomas was also well known for his love of useless knowledge which earned him the nickname “Webster” from the band members and crew of Extreme. Check, 88, 88, check, 2, check, 2.
