Devaney, Joseph D. of Westwood formerly of Dedham, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the age of 52. Known to many as “Harley Joe’, he had a love for riding motorcycles and was a member of the Hyde Park Harley Riders.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise (Grady) Devaney and their children, Sydney, Joseph and Patrick of Westwood. His mother, Dorothy (Smith) Devaney and his father, the late Richard (Mike) Devaney Sr. of Dedham. His siblings, Richard Jr. of Taunton, Patrica Cody and husband John of Plympton, Kathleen Devaney of Foxboro, and Joan O’Brien of Dedham. His mother-in-law, Rose Grady of Westwood and father-in-law, the late William Grady. Brother-in-law, Robert Grady and wife Linnea of Asheville, North Carolina. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great great-niece and nephew.
Joseph started his career in the oil business with his father’s company, RM Devaney Fuel. Later, he delivered oil to many homes and businesses across the state for Devaney Energy. Joseph was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 379. Beyond his work, Joseph’s true passion in life was his family. He was a loving husband to his cherished wife Denise, and their bond was a testament to the power of everlasting and enduring love. Joseph was a proud father to his three children, they were the center of his world and he dedicated himself with providing them with a life filled with joy, wisdom, and endless encouragement.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Sunday July 23 from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood on Monday, July 24 at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
